Thanks guys
You can’t really see it real well in the above pics but the front guard is from a GSX650
I really think its cool, all I needed to do to make it fit was widen the holes a little.
The eletrics I will be transferring to under the seat today then box in the battery box, colour will probable stay black to emphasise the motor in the centre
The common place its seems to relocate electrical items is under the seat can you also put the rectifier there as well
The seat is Micks seat it only fits the early girls

i don't know for sure, but it seems that if you cut off the seat mounts on your late model frame this seat would fit. if you have some one close by with an early bike . set it beside your late model, compare the frames where the seat mounts. i think the frame is close to the same. just the seat mounts are different. the late model seats flip up from the front don't they. the older models flip up from the side.

This is a handsome bike. May I ask where you got the little bullet-type signals, and if they'll work without wiring mods? Also, are the front ones mounted to the ears, or the fork tubes?
Very nice!

Front one are mounted to the ears
the Bullet type blinkers are from the local bike shop in Oz they are single wire blinkers they work fine just need to be eathed to frame by frame for earth contact

I like your cafe build. I have an 81 XS650 and am doing a similar look, all black. But of course I want a seat like yours but you state that it will not fit the later models due to the way it is removed. Do you know of a site that has that style of seat for 80 and later?

Muffler I picked up from a local club member home made i think two into one header come down & join into one Y'section fitted to the muffler end.
uffler has a triangle bracket welded to it so as to bolt it on to the back foot rest bolt
The front guard (Fender) is from a GSX650 just needed to open up the mounting holes a little & then bolted strainght on.
I like the front guard with the little kick out ot the bottom

Hi All
I am about to make a battery box cover does anyone have any Pointers on doing this job I have moved all the electrics just need to sheet battery box,
Looks like you need to do some packing out to sheet it as the box has support rails on the outside of the box.
I have brass dome nuts on tappet covers & mikes copper head bolt seals so thought about a copper sheet battery box cover but would need to make shore there is no contact with metal using rubbers I guess
Any advice welcome
