Hi Guys,

erry Christmas, Happy Solstice, or whatever you choose to call the mid-winter holiday! As of today, the days will begin to get longer, and the nights shorter, which can only result in one thing---the very best Christmas present for a rider: SPRING!!!

eanwhile, if you have decent weather, have a great ride, and if it is shop-time and freezing outside, enjoy the wrenching!

Best wishes to friends and riders everywhere from out here in Washington State, under the snow.... Wink

Happy holidays from here in the midwest too. Got the bikes in their new home and I'm happy. Except of course it's 2 degrees here....

Happy holidays from western NY. We measure our snow in feet not inches. We have 4 seasons. Almost winter, winter, still winter and construction....
Be safe, stay warm...............BG

that's 90F and your complaining about a little humidity? its -5F (0C) here in Iowa with 25/30 mph wind (40/48 kph) we would be ass deep in snow drifts if we didn't have have 3/8" (10mm) of ice on top of everything

Merry Christmas and seasons greetings to the British,German, Scottish, Australian,Norweigen,New Zealand and last but not least the American 650riders.
BigGeorge; Your comment about measuring snow in feet in NY state, reminded me of the bad storm of 1977. If you were in NY state in 77, I'm sure you remember it well. I was living in the Kingston area of Ontario at the time. My car was buried in a parking lot for about 4 days before I could dig it out. Roads just disappeared for days. Nothing could move. Across the border in the Watertown NY area, they called out the army. I heard stories of tanks driving over metal in the snow, and finding out that it was the roof of buried cars. For sure, northern/western new yorkers know all to well about winter storms.

RG I remember the blizzard of 77 all to well. I was at work that day (Niagara Mohawk power co) and never went home till 2 weeks later. Working 20hrs on and 4hrs off. Adrenalin kept everyone going. The army brought in special snow removal equipment to open roads. Its true about the cars being burried over their roof tops and unfortunately some people were trapped in their cars and died waiting to be rescued. Golf courses were among the many places that the snow was being trucked to and I can still remember seeing a small mound of snow that June on the golf course. Buffalo has a "Blizzard Ball" every year to commerate the event............BG

Barbara,
Merry Christmas and Happy Solstice ! When I was in college one of my biking buddies and I would celebrate the solstice with champagne and hamburgers grilled outside. We'd pop the cork at the "moment" of solstice. He rode a Red 450 Honda. I had a '69 350 Yamaha with high pipes until I used my last semester tuition money to buy a new XS2. I still live with in walking distance to the college, he travels and is currently in Spain.
Thank you for your post, Wish you all the best. Greg

I'm going to make it right, by wishing Merry Christmas to the United Kingdom, which I hope includes Ireland as well. Merry Xmas to the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands..............not sure if they are part of the UK Smile

Hi Guys,

Well---with the very best of wishes, just one teensie-tiny little detail: RG, the UK includes six counties in Northern Ireland, but not the Republic, which was the second colony to win it's independence from the Mother Country, the first being, of course, the USA. So even though it's pretty small--hardly room to swing a cat, let alone get a good head of steam on an XS, it's still a sovereign nation....as attested to by one who's ancestors fled the Famine via Ellis Island.

So--as long as we are being all-inclusive: how about "Merry Christmas to the whole of the former British Empire---and the rest of the Planet, too!"

alagayang Pasko, Everyone. (Go ahead---guess!) Laughing

NJ, you got it! First out of the gate--gee, I didn't think anyone would get it, since it's probably misspelled. I used to hang out with a guy who was in subic Bay for awhile during Viet-Nam. Funny what you remember.....

By whatever language, Merry Christmas!

So---you guys have Jocks, Taffy's, Mick's and Pom's, all on those little Islands? Wow---no wonder England had such a vast empire--if y'all had just stayed home, you would have killed everyone from Dover to County Mayo!

It's snowing out--again. Apparently we are in for a white (and deep) Christmas. I'd rather be riding, but the Weather Mavens didn't ask me, so apparently Bing Crosby will once again be honored as the Patron Saint of Snow......

All the Best to you guys, in the Mother Country and all of her Colonies--and everywhere else, too! (Even all you Aliens from Planet 10 who are hiding in New York City...)
