I can't decide which combination of paint/polish to go with on my brat bike project.
I like polished side covers, but I also like the wrinkle finish paint. I like solid black engines but I also like detailed cylinders/heads. Polished fins or no? Hammertone or just grey? Etc.
Show me some purdy motors, please...
A couple of mine to start:

My personal preferance for the '82, '83 engine is the stock black. Carb bodies should be black 'specially if the side (air filter) covers are black, kinda flows together.
That gray looks good. Think the intake/exhaust section should be black though, along with black carbs.
BUT, Opinions are like feet. Most everybody has a couple and they usually stink!

My two cents. I like lots of shiny things. And I like mostly stockers. The second post pic you put up I like best. Mostly bare shiny with the black for accent. You could shine the edges of the black cooling fins for more effect. Don't get me wrong the wrinkle black paint looks good too but if I had that I would see nicks and chip that I would have to touch up. Teecats looks good on his and the others but if something hits my bare case and scratches/nicks it I could sand it out more easily if it is not painted. Maybe I'm just lazy? Wink

Here's my offering. Not all that original, but I like it. Not too flashy, and easy to touch up. DupliColor engine enamel, and some polishing. Pipes are POR15 exhaust coating. Kyle

More two cents. All fine examples for me to shoot for. I like the grey heads. The contrast keeps them from "shrinking" into the frame. To me, all black gives the appearance of a smaller engine.

I want to see one with crinkle coat on the outside cases with silver jugs and head. I saw it a long time ago and feel in love with the look. I lost that picture in a tragic beer spilling incident. Sad I am considering doing it to my own motor while its tore down.

The pipe(s) came with it, it was a two into one that I cut & added the Dunstalls to. Yes, the centre stand is there. I liked 'em OK, but over the winter I welded it back to a collector, and grafted a Supertrapp muffler on. I'll post pics as soon as she comes out.
