Local Craigslist is showing a beautiful 1977 Standard XS650 with low milage which looks largely unmolested. Asking price is $1800 which does seem a bit high. On the other hand, from the pictures the bike looks great. I have always wanted a Standard so I am tempted, so what do you think, is this too much money or what?

Golly, Wally! LOL
What's anything worth? The price someone will pay.
Looking at my '83 for 601 bucks and change, and the time and work put into it.....probably worth 12 to 15 hundred. IF you have the knowledge to repair any possible wrong with it and if you'll kick youself in the arse for passing it by, see what he'll settle for. Last time I checked they"re not making these any more, and the way they get chopped up......

I seen them sell on ebay in the $2500 range. So it depends. Low mileage, everything straight, stored inside, running yeah it's worth it.

About 18 months ago I bought my 77 D in running ...average condition. Busted tach, no chain guard, real small ding in the tank. I'd like to get it painted. Small oil leak etc. $550. Will I put $1000 into it to get it in excellent condition? Maybe...but if you want it and can make a deal YOU are happy with, go for it. Have you got a link?
Mine as I bought it is my avatar.
