i layed down my 78 special today and the handlebars are slightly bent

wondering if there is a secret to bending them back so they are even or if i need to take it to a shop and have them try

I've read here in the past about setting them in a vice and working them that way. I'd mount the bars in the vice, upright like on the bike using a couple pieces of softwood to keep them from getting scratched and then try putting them back into shape.
