I have been wanting move my light down, maybe hang a tool bag on the seat rail. I quite often see rear fenders with lights on ebay.

Will a 78-79 rear fender bolt up? Will earlier years bolt to an 80 frame?

Thank you
Don

Bump. I would think it would bolt up, but need to be sure.
Was there any frame changes for bolting on the rear fender when they made everything "Special"?

I put a '77 or maybe a '78 rear fender and light on my '83. Bolts right up. You'll need to simplify the taillight wiring. Easy to figure out, can't tell you exactly what I did but the '83 had more wires than needed for the '78. Works fine and definatly a sight improvement . Now to work that seat out. Anybody got any fiberglass and resin? Ha!

nj1639, thanks. I figured I would have to make up some jumpers to tie into the original wiring. I just hope the grab rail doesn't look to strange with a different light/fender. Possibly there are more wires because the 80+ has 2 bulbs in the taillight.

sinister, I see you are making a bobber, so I take that as an offer. How is the chrome and how much do you want? I have a paypal account for transactions.

Get a 78, 79 Special tail light and drill the holes to suit on your 80 guard, the guard has a double plate where the tail light bolts on
