I posted this on my newbie introduction to the website, but since I am not sure who sees what, I wanted to repost in this electrical forum in case someone sees this one and not the original post.
I am trying to install a headlight modulator as a safety feature since I do a lot of riding on narrow curvy roads to work.
I started installing the modulator, but I got confused with the wiring. If you take off the headlight, there is one green wire (which I saw somewhere is the low beam, but then there are 2 yellow wires (High beam?) and 2 black wires. Does it matter which of the yellow or black wires is spliced to attach to the modulator? Anybody know what color the horn wire is on a 2007 Custom? I know the turn signal wire is yellow with red dots.
If anyone has installed one of this gizmos, I would be grateful for some input.
Thanks.
Joe

Green is low beam
Yellow is high beam
Black is ground
Doesnt matter which yellow wire you use
Doesnt matter which black wire you use

Thanks very much to everyone. Big George, I saw your post after I cut the wires, so it was reassuring to know I hadn't screwed it up too bad.
By the way, it is a 2007 650 Custom for xsleo.
(Since it is the 650 forum I thought that was what everyone has. I'm new to the site, so I apologize...)
I got the modulator installed. I have to say it is very cool.
I wired the whole thing up and I fired up the bike and even though everything was working, I thought I had failed miserably because the headlight wasn't modulating. I sat there for awhile contemplating calling the company and complaining, but it is Saturday anyway. Then I realized that the thing has a light sensor on it and that I installed it and tested it in the garage. I took it out in the daylight, and it worked perfectly. It even is attached to the horn so the modulation speeds up for three seconds when you sound the horn. You can disable it by flipping the light switch within 1-2 seconds.
Again, I appreciate everyone's suggestions and help with the colors of the wires. I was pretty scared to cut the first wire. All I could see was having to put the bike on the back of the truck and hauling it to the dealership and catching crap from everyone for screwing up my bike.
