I'm new to this forum. I own a 1980 XS650 Special. The left turn signal doesn't work when I'm traveling under 25-30 mph. It just glows steady at that speed or slower. Anyone have any advice? Also, I'm looking for a crash bar or highway bar. Any advice on where to find one in good condition? Thanks!

Almost needed a crash bar today myself........master link broke and the chain came off.....locked up on the back wheel and bent the crap out of the chain adjuster..........just approaching the expressway......don't know if there is any case damage yet......luckily it was in front of a shed sales yard and they put it one of there sheds for me till I can go pick it up.....guess there goes another of my nine lives for sure.........

Yours could be a charging issue..........good to have 2 led lights in the tail.....saves almost 2 amps there.......and the battery on these has to be good.........check the 2 brass rings with an ohm meter ....... lifting one brush........across the rings there shoud be at least 5 ohms.....and infinty to ground from either ring.........

Thanks, John. I'll give your advice a try when I get the time. Glad to hear you weren't injured in your mishap... have you ever had a chain master link break before???

Honestly it was my fault.....used the old master link cause I didn't have one ...and it was pretty flimsey.....that was 3 months ago...was planing to get one the next day and forgot.........duh........a man's worst enemy is sometimes himself..........could be ALS setting in too........can't remember what side the horn is on sometimes too......

Altzheimers, eh? Now I'm concerned... I tried to press the horn button the other day and found myself hitting the start button instead... at least, that's what I think I recall!

Everything on the bike is repairable? And your shorts washable? Wink

Beginning to look like there isn't much hope for some of us........maybe we could get rid of the E start and have 2 horn buttons.........but when our legs give out we will have to ask the neighbor to start it if we can remember his name .......and if we haven't wandered off some where.........but we would probably just start beeping at our self with 2 horn buttons.......

All of this new crap is over a 4 dollar chain link........

That's quite humorous, John... not the trouble you have had with your bike, but your outlook in the midst of the trouble... thanks for the laughs!

Hey fasterpastor, This is off topic, but, what makes you a "fasterpastor?"
Peace,
Bsquared

Hi Bsquared! Do you Bsaved? Regarding your question... I placed first in a gokart race a few years ago... the race was in competition with a dozen other pastors in my community. Thus, I was given the award and title of "Faster Pastor". Laughing
