Here are a few pics of my TX project that has recently broken out of my basement shop. I don't know where to classify this bike, but I hope it looks a little old-school 'bobbed' when I'm done.

A guy wanted to buy it last week and never showed, so I wheeled it out to the garage.

y friend saw it there and told me that I'm not allowed to sell it, so I'm back on the project, albeit slowly.

Here's where it stood last year. I rescued it from leaning against the side of a barn, where a guy drove it and left it leaning against the barn since 2001.

Crusty carbs, spiderweb paint, and rust in every nook and cranny.

Sofar: Rattle can paint (metal flake enamel) And stripped 'er down to the frame to rattle can some gloss black. Carbs are off being rebuilt in my basement still.

Rear view. I rolled' er outside. The front fender and bars I found at the dump. The wiring harnesses had pretty much crumbled in my hand, so off went the wiring.

For some reason, I can't find the regulator either.

I took the front fender and I'm going to make a bracket for it so it hugs the rear tire.

aybe some triumph style mufflers would go well with this.

I'm going to try to make a fake oil resevoir to put the battery in underneath the seat.

I'll have to make a new seat, the old one is moldy and icky. Besides, the seat that was on there was mounted with door hinges that were welded to the frame. The seat was off of an old LTD style KZ.

I'm planning on a flat seat with a slab of foam and a streamlined and minimal aluminum toolbox behind my butt that I hope to incorporate the taillight and blinkers into. I'll make the pan out of a chunk of steel and make some clamps, maybe in the style of those conduit clamps you see in the electrical section.

You can kind of see that the alternator side case cover is now GM Engine Blue. I'm thinking that the clutch side cover and the valve adjuster covers should also get the GM blue paint.

...Oh yeah, I love old-school (WWII & pre) looking bikes. Any budget bobber tips or ideas would be appreciated.

Here's another bob concept - duolever front end and cradle frame.
