for me - Autolite 63 stay the cleanest
NGK BP7ES are ok
and forget the irridium tip plugs at $9 each - they foul quicker and give no noticable performance increase.

I got about 15k miles out of a set of NGK BP6ES on my BMW R90/6. They were still fine when I replaced them, having almost no residue. I run BP7ESes in my XS650. The bike doesn't get ridden as much as my Beemer, but I have found that the NGK's life expectancy seems to be comparable. (It's been a few years since I've changed them in the XS)

Never tried Autolites in my bikes. I've had cars that they worked very well in, though.

Bosch also makes a good plug, but they're getting harder and harder to find in non-resistor flavors.

Best,

ichael

CTire didn't have any NGKs in stock so I got some Champion RN7YC, which their database said was comparable. Are these good plugs for the XS? Does anyone run them?

Question...After changing the plugs in the 79 I realized they call for NGK7ES for 76 and later. I had bought a set previously for the 72 I was working on and they used B8ES. Now the bike has been run on the B8ESs to check the carbs, idle, that stuff but not on a hard ride yet. Will any damage be done and whats the difference in the plugs?
Thanks

b8es has a slightly cooler nose. it might foul easier, that's the only difference. I use the b7es in my 71.
