Is there any reasonable alternatives to increase my spark as the XS is notorious for weak spark. I have a 1980 with electronic ignition, What Ohm coil should I look for, Aftermarket HD?

MikesXS has an improved coil to replace the weak stock coil reasonably priced at about 26.00. Direct replacement so no mounting issues. Go ahead and get new plug wires ( 4.00 pair) and plug boots and you're good to go. I also believe that Accell also has a useable coil as I have seen a few mounted on the 650's but I don't have any specs on that.

I have had an Accel coil in my 83 Xs for 4 years and it works like gang busters it utilises 3 ohm primary resistence. It fits right in whre the old yam coil was(no mod necessary). The only thing I found was that you tend to use up the NGK BP7ES plugs more frequently because of the power of the coil. tudawgs

If you go to 650central.com and read Minton Mods it gives a few others that will work along with giving you somemore ideals to spend those rainy days.

hi mo650 chopper, i've just fitted a boyer brandson electronic ignition and it starts a treat, kick when cold button when hot.
Yesterday I had a problem, don't know if anyone can help, did not have any spark to each plug, took them out, cleaned them, took side panels off checked fuses and wiring, then it started, maybe a loose wire!! anyone had similar experience
cheers
