i replaced a cracked tubeless tire with a newer tubeless tire on the front rim and it won't inflate. the bike is an 81 xs 650.

is there a trick to getting these to bead? i'm using my compressor
but it doesn't seem to blow up.

thanks for any help,

mcat

I've seen people use some starter fluid and a lighter to get them to seal... But I will let someone more knowledgeable explain that one! haha.

take a couple of motorcycle tiedown straps and cinch them around the outside of the tire tread, snug them down to squeeze the center of the tire, this will force the sidewalls out, use dishwashing soap to lube the tire bead & rim

where i get my car tires patched.

i've changed tires before but alway on tubes.

only problem with soapy water is when it dries on the aluminum rim it becomes corosive, another good trick we use at my shop is Honda Polish, you can buy it at any Honda shop, the stuff works great all around on paint and chrome but provides a very slippery surface when sprayed on any rubber parts that are fighting you such as tires, grommets, tank mounts. and we have never seen it to be corosive at all. hope this helps, another trick is to seat the beed with the valve stem removed.

If i truly have a clearly marked tubeles rim is there an advantage to putting a tube back?
I have a clerly marked rear rim for tubeless use but when i took the tire off there was a tube in ther, i ruined it getting the tire off. I have a tubeless tire but i think i'm going to put a tube back. Front is also marked tubeless but i dont know if it had a tube i dont think so because when i had the tire done at the car tire shop they didn't say anything about a tube.

Actualy thinking about keeping it tubeless now, any comments? Is there a disadvantage or advantage to putting a tube in on a tubeless rim with a tubeless tire?
