I'm taking a short break from the very frusrating task of trying to remove glass bead from engine parts that someone thought they would clean up. Just a little tip DO NOT!!! Beadblast or Sandblast your engine parts to remove carbon or grime backing soda is the best thing to use and it rinses away with water, also doesnt tear the hell out of the precision machined surfaces the best thing to use is a hand held spot blaster available from almost any tool supplier. it may be a little messier and the checkout girl might look at you funny when you go thru her lane with 30lbs. of it (i buy in bulk) and you may look like a ghost, but rain and wind will wash it away, who cares what she thinks shes a cashier, and you needed a shower anyway stinky Very Happy just a thought and thank you for your time!

Huh. Never thought of baking soda before. So it cuts well, does it? How is it at removing paint?

I've got about a hundred pounds of the green "sand" media I bought a while back that I used for blasting a couple of bikes' body work down to bare metal. My cafe project's frame is gonna need some attention and I was just planning on using this media, but if baking soda works better, I'll give it a try.

Best,

ichael

Indeed.
I took some parts to an idiot who said he could do the job.

He nearly ruined the barrels.

Vapour is the way to go.

R.D Cox do a search. They are the Gods of Vapour Blasting
