Changed the shoes on an 83 and there is a noteable difference in the wear between the shoes. Could this be from not centering the brake hub after tightening the chain? Still not getting satisfactory stopping ability from the new shoes. I can stand on the brake lever and still not lock up the back brakes. Adjusting them to the point where lever travel is a comfortable amount the shoes rub the hub. I'm sure that isn't good. Adjusted to point the wheel turns freely the lever travel is 4-5 inchs.
Is the hub glazed? Would a buffing with sandpaper on the hub be a possible fix? Could the cam be worn to the point it would cause this? Any other things to check while I have it apart?

Cussins, compliments, or conclusions all are welcome.
