750 standard tank on a 650?

I was looking at some of the XS750 standard tanks, the ones that have the scalloped sides....
They appear to have similar mounting points to the 650 tanks. Are they a direct swap or is there some modification involved?

Look at some other posts in here. It is not a direct swap however. You need to grind off the original front tank mounts (on the frame), and weld in new "nubs" for the 750 tank.

I did a search but didn't see anything.
What about the length? Is it the same? For the rear mount?

Look in the cafe forum on how to install a 750 on a 650. It is a few posts down from yours.

Take a look at member jasonmorrow's post and pics on this subject. My '77 XS750 tank should be here in a week (ebay, $40) and I'll be posting pics also, but the current ones are helpful.
His project looks real good with the seat mod.
