Its your favorite non-running bike buddy, here to test your bike knowledge....


I asked you guys a few questions and got my 1979 xs 650 running again and now the bike wont run part of the time. Lets start off by saying that the new plugs i put in the bike are now brown. I got them from black to brown???? The carbs are backfiring like crazy when it does run (up to about 2500 RPM) and on the highway it runs great until you let off the throttle. Any ideas what i should try? Oh, Yea new plugs in it now and it wont run still!!! how about the air/fuel mixture screw? where should it be set?

Did you clean these carbs real good.......And set the points correctly.....

didnt set the points, dont know how to. cleaned the carbs 3 times. VERY WELL.

Would suggest a manual and learn the point setting process.....The manual will be very helpful with other things also........
