I believe I have the first model 650 with front disc brakes. The fluid has crystalized in the master cylinder (the bike sat for 15 years) and I don't know where to start first. I didn't see the exact model master cylinder and calipers the first time I looked at Mikesxs, I'm not exactly sure what OEM components might fit, or if I can rebuild the brakes. I've never tried it before. I've done brake jobs on cars, but not on this!
Any suggestion short of going to the dealer for a quick fix? (quick is relative given the availability of parts for this old bike....)
Peace,
Bsquared

I believe if you look under the brakes section in Mikes, he does have about 6-10 master cylinders listed. Any one should work, just pick the design you like. As far as the calipers, he may have a rebuild kit and new piston available. I went to my dealer, and they laughed. Said they don't work on bikes older than ten years. Maybe you will have better luck with yours.

www.oldbikebarn.com had this selection, and it doesn't seem to include 1972 xs1-b 650's... unless I'm being too specific, but I'm not sure about assuming cross applications.
