$300 !! thats sooo cheap !
The cheapest replica commando silencers here in the UK cost £130 ($250) a pair, and we cant even buy pattern XS downpipes (headers) at all !
ikes xs refuse to sell/send any of his products to us in England, anyone want to volunteer to purchase on my behalf & send to me ?

A good set of TT pipes always have nice tone and performance. Shell makes a set of TT pipes for around 125 dollars US. Find them on Ebay. Just search under xs650 and you should find some. Jardine used to make a TT pipe back in the day but I have never seen a set. Mind you, these pipes run under the motor and exit in front of the back tire.
Ebay also has a maxi x pipe for sale right now for 355 dollars US if you buy it now.

I just put a set of Mike's XS1 replicas on my xs650H, $449 for the set. They are worth every penny to me. I like them. They sound very good at idle, alittle loud, but they are not loud when riding. I have BUB's on my SG for 14 years, great performance but tough to live with, TOO loud. I have used 27.5 reverse cones from JCW and by the time I got the the carbs right and enough holes in the cans they were too loud also. When one of them fell OFF, broken bracket, I put on JCW glass packs. I like them but they are not as quiet as the XS1 replicas. The XS1 replicas give me the best performance that I have had on my XS-H in the 10 years I have been playing with it. I might even put a set on the SG and sell the BUBs...but not this year. Loud is fun for a while, but quiet is great on a long ride. Greg

The XS that I am picking up next Saturday has an Ascot exhaust on it (see pic on my intro). I will find out where he got it from.

Be leary of Mikes Ascot pipes. I have a set thats garbage. The fit was
tearable and I emailed Mike and I was basiclly called an idot and follow
the instuction. I should have insisted he take them back. The fit was so
bad one muffler hit the swingarm and the other one would be hit by the
kick starter. The rear brake lever would not move because the top pipe
was right in the way. I tried to space the brake lever out but then the kick
starter would hit the brake lever. Last week I gave up on them and ordered a set of Mac 2-2 head pipes from 650 Central. At least I can use
the mufflers. Did I mention the chrome blistered at the head pipe as soon
as it got a bit warm. Mikes doen't warrenty the chrome though. Maybe
his other pipes are better or maybe I got a bad one that slipped through
quality control.

I quit chrome cause new chrome doesn't hold up. Thank the epa peckerheads. Chrome just ain't cool anymore. In FL near the ocean chrome will corrode after about 6 weeks if you don't keep it cleaned up and wiped down. I prefer the polished aluminum. Matches the bike better. Black them macs out. You will get better performance while setting the bike off from all the other chrome dweebs.

Ive got a few sets of chrome HALCO downpipes(headers) that have lasted me nearly 10 years without a blemish & we have our roads salted for 6 months of the year!..I reckon the best silencers(US= mufflers?) are non-restrictive ie; I use straight through Triumph T120 or BSA A10 or A65 ...they sound great & are probably the cheapest BHP increase per £/$ you can get !!

My Ascot pipes seem to work okay and there is no problem with the fit. However, the kickstart does hit it which means I will probably look for something else as I like to kick my XS's into life!
