does anyone know of another place to buy a stator for an 81 special. Mikes has been out of stock and they don't know when they will get anymore in.

Looks like the older ones would work by putting your pickup coil on them. Bit of alligning, drilling and tapping and cleaning. The pre electronic ones can be had a bunch cheaper sometimes. Ebay

Custom Rewind in Birmingham Alabama-1-800-798-7282. I've been running one of their rotors for about a year now. My '79 charges like a welder and starts with the button. The guy tells me that he can and does rewind anything. The rotor I got from them is epoxy coated and the workmanship looks just perfect besides the fact that I can ride for longer than the hour that I was getting after the battery charged all night. Give them a call, it can't hurt to ask.

Open the cover and you may never have to fix a basted one again.....Lowers temp from 185 to 130 degrees.
