Have a fork brace from Mike's XS on my '79. Had the front wheel off recently and I noticed when reinstalling the wheel that the brace pushes the fork legs apart with considerable force. Given the spring-like nature of the design I quess this is a reasonable thing. To put the wheel back on with the lower forks reasonably close to the front axel it appears that I may have to push the lower fork legs together, perhaps with a strap wrench. Anyone noticed this on their machine?

Would't think it should do anything accept stiffen the front end. If it is forcing the tubes apart that will cause the lower legs and the tubes to be out of paralel? Am I reading this right? Does this brace hook to the fender mounts or the fork tubes???

This brace is for the 35mm fork legs, Does anyone know if it can be fitted to the earlier 34mm legs ? I would like to put one on my 1975, because I'm only using a fiberglass fender.
