I just noticed yesterday that the 2-1 header on my bike is homemade. Basically, it's the right side pipe/muffler with a pipe welded into it from the left side. Certainly not a true merged.
The guy at 650central (Mike? Can't remember...) said the theory was good at least.
What do you guys think of this? If I were to replace it, I would consider a stock 2-2 set-up, maybe with some different mufflers. The MAC looks fine to me as well but he said it was "built to a price".

Give me your thoughts on exhaust set-ups; 2-1 and 2-2, stock or otherwise. Educate a newbie and help me make an informed decision. Even if it means just keeping what I have.

You really need a more effective merge collector and a longer secondary pipe to allow the motor to pull harder down low and on top with the short primary pipes. Two into ones sound good on the XS with the right muffler and as far as performance goes, everyone as an opinion,it's just a matter of preference...Jack

I decide to replace the homemade header. I ordered the Commando set-up from MikesXS. I'll post before and after pics when I get them installed.

You got the commandos? 2-1 or 2-2? I bought the slip ons for mine. Just put them on last week. They have a real nice sound for short money. Keep us posted!
