Is your motor stock? Modded? I've found 31 inch long open pipes to be entirely acceptable volume-wise on a stocker. Modded is even more fun, it's like a cool cackle. I never run mufflers and have never been nabbed so I can't tell you what kind of horsepower suckers to use.

with a hardtail setup you are probably more concern with the looks of the pipes rather than performance do you want straights or the megaphone look?, check jc whitney for cheap pipes they may not last a long as a good set but it easier to experiment with them

Thanks for the replies. Yes the motor is stock and i am more concerned with looks than performance. And no i do not want the megaphone type.

check swap meets you can usually find a set of harley staggered duals (nice tapered cone) punch out the baffles and and they sound pretty healthy might have to shim to fit to pipe tho' , looks more legal than straight pipes
