15/40 Shell Rotella is a good choice. I'm currently using 10/40 Golden Spectro semi-synthetic blend as a winter oil and will switch to Amsoil full synthetic in Spring. I've heard of guys experiencing oil leaks and clutch slipping with the full synthetics and blends. I've run Golden Spectro for years in XS650's and never had problems, even with my current engine, which is ported, carbed, cammed and punched to 700cc's. My guess is the issues are caused by marginal components.

20/50 castrol for the whole works dog....engine, forks...shoot...even works for the chain....I'm not sold on expensive oil....I'll leave that trash for the harley guys to pay for...any good brand 20/50 will do you right...change it when it goes dark and you're good to go.

Diesel oil has the additives that they take out of motor oil. Its cool I have always used it. 20-50 when its hot and 15-40 when its cold and a mixture of both in between in the fall and spring.. This keeps the viscosity right for the air cooled engine year round............. .

diesel oil is good just use a good reputable brand and not something like like Johnnies super slick. I like amalee . as for the forks 10 weight is heavy enough. I am 6ft 1 and 225 lbs. Springs are what is needed in the forks.
