Hello to everyone.I have a '77 xs 650 that seems to have no compression. The kickstart will turn the engine over freely but offers no resistance. How should I proceed to get this beauty running?
Thanks
Tom

Remove Valve inspection covers and make sure cam is turning and valves are opening / closing and adjusted properly. Try putting a little oil down the cylinders. Sounds like you have a rebuild in your future.

650Chopper is right...........make sure the valves have action and if so, take another compression check with the throttle wide open and most likely will have to assist the slides to keep them fully open...to allow as much air intake as possible to seat the rings against the cylinder wall on the compression stroke, to achieve a more accurate reading and post the compression results......Jack
