hello
right now i am still using 26 mikuni carbs for my xs and every after i ride my bike I close the fuel petcocks but in the next day when the engine is still cold its very hard to start the engine and the fuel is come out from the carbs when I open the petcock fuel to kick start it
is it better for the carbs and my bike if I just let the petcock fuel open? I mean even when I don't use the bike .. need advice

Take your fuel line off the petcock to see if it is leaking. Could be off ain't off.

I already checked the fuel line and there is no leak from the petcock .. the leak only comes out from the carbs if I open it the petcock after its been off before

Looks like a grounding strap perhaps?

I think our friends model is a 1971 XS1B that did not have the electric start so it would not have a starter relay. Kick start only right? But I do agree it must me some sort of earthing strap.

from the certificate the bike made on 1973 .. well I got the bike with a lot of stock parts are change.
so I am not sure if I should have a starter relay or not but yes right know the bike condition is only start with kick.
the image below have a cable that are attached in the same location with mine so I was thinking if the cable that are on the 72 model/the image below should be the same with mine
and mine was attached on the same place with my battery negative cable

It has got to be a ground strap.

- are you sure you need it...youre estart is either disconnected, removed or not functioning so there is no heavy current passing through the system and the motor is solid mounted, ie self-earthing
- even so, you cant have too many good earth points in your system, simply make a new one or find something at an auto dismantler or electrician-can really fix anywhere to the frame

Well I am not sure if I really need it but my strap is looks very bad and I am still trying to buy the manual to understand more along with the other parts.
Can you explain what is self earthing ?? my english is not very good
and to be sure its not a cable battery starter relay just like on the mikesxs right.

The motor is not isolated from the frame. It bolts directly to the frame at the motormounts so is grounded(self earthed) and doesn't really need a jump strap to make the ground.
