Wally,
does the powder damage any of the rubber seals or were yours already removed prior to blasting.

Nice! I wonder if I could use it to clean up the front sprocket area? Between the flung chain goo and the oil leak, it's a major baked on mess, and I'm trying to figure a good way to clean it so I can see which of the 3 seals is leaking.

In reality parts should be AS CLEAN AS POSSIBLE before they think of going near a blast cabinet. That means degreased and all the loose stuff brushed off.
You don't want your blast cabinet all gummed up with grease.
If you're doing it outside a cabinet, well, I'm sure giving the parts a good thorough cleaning would do some good. Purple Power and such.

While surfing today I came across a guy who was restoring an old Honda CB360 and he showed how he built his own blasting set up including his own cabinet on the cheap. Pretty cool job and results.

Go to his next page to see the results.

Yes. That's the one that took me to the site yesterday. Today no can do. I'm speaking of the wagtail home site. That guy had a neat project going with some cool homemade tools, including the look of his carbs after cleaning.
