I placed my final big order for awhile on Mikes to get this machine running today. I needed throttle shaft seals for the carb rebuild and when I added to my cart it said they were back ordered or out of stock. I wanted to get them so I can finish this thing AGH!...additionally it would'nt allow them to be added to my cart for shipping when he gets them in stock again. I sent him an e-mail asking for details, but does anyone else have any sources for them or any extras hanging around? I'd gladly pay the going rate if they're new.

5twins sent me some seals he got from Mcmaster Carr....that's all I know about them....maybe you could chase him on 650 Garage...running them now and they seem to work.......see if you can double the seals if there is room.....like I said on another post 2 would be better than one.....just getting into this idea and on the left on my Bs34's 2 will fit and work......

They were measured in MM ......fit right in........for the stock ones I think shey should be installed with the bell of the seal outward so when the suction is put on them they tighten...............

rtaylor522, I have found a few in stock at dealers.
Yamaha's part #256-14997-00-00. It is used in 95 different models.
Including the XJ600's from 92-98 and the Virago 250's from 89-03.
It's interesting that Yamaha chose to stop listing it in schematics after 76 for the XS650 even though it was used till 83.

Hey weekend rider are you suggesting that these should fit the 72 BS38's? I'm not too familiar with any of the other model bikes you listed
-Thanks

Yes that part number is the throttle shaft seal. Used in all the 650's from the TX to the K, 38's and 34's.
