So my left carb seems to be askew. when i pull the throttle, the right cylinder reacts perfectly fine, but the left lags behind a few seconds and then backfires real hard before it kicks in. i have an 81 with the stock carbs. is there a pdf manual on line for these carbs? i dont know what any of the screws do and dont want to touch them without figuring it out first. any help is much much appreciated.

Here is the carb guide you're looking for. It's a very good read.

From one newbie to another, posting some details of the condition of the bike, the carbs, and any work that might have been done up to this point would be of great benefit to those that can offer help. That being said, I recently did a full carb cleaning, rebuild, rejet due to some carb issues that I was having and the helpful folks on here got me sorted out despite my newbie status. Very Happy So while it's still fresh in my mind, feel free to post any details, and I'll see if I can help. May or may not be a carb issue, but it's hard to tell from the limited details you left in your post. Print out the PDF on the carbs. Very helpful, but you have to actually read it in it's entirety. Unlike people like me who will continue to jack with it and not read the instructions... Embarassed
