Hello, When I start the bike the right side isn't firing. I can pull the plug wire and no difference. After it runs for about 30sec I take it off choke and it runs fine. I just had the carbs apart and thought I cleaned everything but maybe I missed something. Must be a problem in the starting circuit of the carb somewhere. Any ideas?
Thanks

Sound's like ignition to me, maybe a bad coil. Go to the vault for trouble shooting the ignition system.

G'day Grinder, just guessing, but you've got standard points ignition system? It pays to mention what you've got, usually get better help if you do! Also got standard 38mm CV carbs?

Correct voltage is a must on these, so a voltage check on the battery at idle & 2500 rpm is the best place to start! If your using the electric leg, try using the manual leg to see if that makes a difference!

As Gordo said, plenty of good oil in the vault, have a read there & see if that helps. Then come back with what you find & plenty will jump on board to help! Cheers

Everything on the bike is stock. I can't see this being an electrical issue as it runs perfect after being run long enough to be taken off choke. I have spark on the right side but seems like no fuel or not enough fuel when cold.Would taking off the plate on the side of the carb where the choke plunger is do me any good or do I need to drop the bowl?

Remove the float bowl and have a good look at the passage way that supplies fuel for the choke circuit. Use carb cleaner and compressed air, and possibly a very fine needle to clear any crud. Be careful not to enlarge the choke jet.

Just a quick update on this problem. I pulled the float bowl and sure enough the choke jet was plugged soiid. I used fine wire and compressed air to get it open again. Now the bike starts as it should.
Thanks for the info
