So I installed LED turn signals. I got an LED Flasher to replace the stock thermal flasher. It has three pins on it, one is a ground, one goes to the switch (brown/white) and the other is for power (brown). When all plugged in according to the diagram, the result is all turn signals flashing at once. The yellow/green wire (which I believe is for the automatic cancelling unit) is not plugged into anything. I've attached the wiring diagram for the LED flasher unit and my best guesses as to which wires go where.

Any thoughts on the matter? Your help is greatly appreciated!

Not in front of me right now and I don't have LED signals but it seems I only have a two prong flasher unit. Removed the canceler unit.
What is the model of your bike. We could look at the wiring diagram.....

green and brown misidentified?
crossed the blinker system with the light system?

My bike is a 79 XS650 Special. I know I've gotten close because the flasher is working, the lights blink nice and brightly, and there is a clicking sound... Yet they are all blinking at once like hazard lights... Since I am just replacing the stock flasher, there aren't many wires to get confused. This appears to be the correct wiring. I read on a different bike forum that the indicator light on the instrument cluster might be the culprit, that the wire to the indicator light goes to both turn signals, bridging them, thus both sides blink at once? Just a thought.

Looking at a diagram seems like the only thing that would make ALL of them blink is some going on in the switch. Black to ground, looks like green/yellow stripe to the canceller, brown/white to power. That will always be the same, no left right on the flasher unit. Thats the right diagram?

Hey, pumps, you got a larger version of that wiring diagram? I love it, its in COLOR and its the correct one for my bike! Its clear that there is only one way to wire it at the flasher itself, so yes, the problem must lie elsewhere. I haven't crossed any wires, and my handlebar switch is brand new and worked fine with the original lights... so I guess the only thing to try next is disconnect the indicator light on the instrument cluster, see if that does anything...

despecial: thanks for the suggestion but I don't know what a diode is, what it does, where I'd get one or what line I'd put it on!

It is from the back of a Clymer. I can send it to you? Send me a PM and I'll get your email. I actually bought a large print color laminated diagram from a guy on ebay for my bike to help my old eyes .

If you only have one indicator light on that bike, then that is the problem. Try disconnecting the indicator light.

Ok pamcopete, that is what I'm going to try as I believe it is just one light. I hope that's it!

Ok so why does it cause all the lights to flash though? Is it because the flasher unit is different or the signals? I mean the indicator bulb was "bridging" before ,yes? What component caused the condition?
