The speedometer (not the swimsuit) on my '77 works but is real slow to react to increase or decrease in road speed. I just got it back on the road after the previous owner left it parked outdoors under a tarp for several years. Had front wheel off and cleaned/lubed speedo drive. Cable housing looks a little tired - guess I should clean cable inside and lube. Or is this a problem with the speedo itself?
Thanks

probably just the cable but take the meter off and set it upside down in the sun for an hour or so then spin it up with a reversible drill in the upside down posistion and sideways, a little graphite powder (lok-eze, dri-slide) from a auto supply on the drive end in the speedo wouldn't hurt, not to much the speedo uses jeweled bearings and is supposed to be dry so don't oil it
