I bought a 79 650 with a new never used universal left handlebar switch assemble. The universal switch has 9 wires and the orginal switch has 11. I have a clymer book with the schematics, and the package with the 9 wires listed, but I'm still struggling figuring things out. If there is someone who knows how to get this wiring to work I would be greatly appreciated. Below is the listing of the universal switch wires, thanks. JB
Yellow; high beam, Green; low beam, Red/Yellow; H/L main,
Brown/White; main T/S, Brown; left T/S, Dark Green; right T/S
Black; horn ground, Pink;horn main,
Blue; blank,

Have you checked the wire color code of the items in question on the bike. When I run into things like this I would lets say go to the horn on the bike clean the wire at the conector and check what color it is then, go to my harness on the handle bars check for that color wire. Also unplug the wire from the horn and do a contanutiy (spelling sucks) check from the horn end of the wire to the handle bar wire. It's the long way around but it's worked for me before. I have to ask, you do have a test meter correct? The only time this has not worked is when the part in question is tripped with a relay, then you have to do a little more testing.

Very cool. I think ebay rocks I have to be careful not to go hunting for things I don't need.
