It apears i have an oil leak behind the points on my 75 650. I was looking at Mikes XS list of parts and I think it would be the Camshaft seals. Am i correct?

Also if anybody has the small bracket that attaches the ignition cylinder to the gage cluster I could really use one! I'm gonna try making my own if i cnat scrounge one up soon.

much appreiciated

Hi,
I looked here http://parts.yamaha-motor.com/ Under CAMSHAFT-CHAIN TENSIONER XS650C and that seems to be the part. Mind you I'm not sure but I think your correct.

As for the part your looking for "small bracket that attaches the ignition cylinder to the gage cluster" I can't help there.

It's very likely that you have a cam seal leaking, but it can be fixed easily. After you have taken the points backer plate off, you can remove the cam seal housing and press the old seal out and the new one back in with a large socket and a bench vise. I made a tool to aid in this job by taking a 5"x5" x 1" thick block of wood and cut a hole in it the same size as the tunnel on the cam seal housing. I put the block of wood and the cam seal housing in the vise and pressed the new seal in place with the socket. Just be careful not to use too much force, you don't want to warp the cam seal housing. The new seal goes in from front to back. Ham.
