I'd like to hear various experiences with some of the more commonly availible standard style stock exhausts. I'm paticularly interested in, sound, performance, build quality and durability:

1) MikeXS XS1 replica - looks great, high quality $$$$

2) MikeXS XS1 head pipes with other mufflers - reverse cone or Dunstall clones - looks great, about $100 less

3) MAC headers with after market muffler JC Whiteny or the like. Another $100 less but looks it....

4) Others...

Thanks in advance

Thanx. Good info to know. Sounds like spending the extra money is worth it in the long run......

I would probably use mikes replica pipes, most items I have seen from whitneys has not been the best quality. Good prices but in the end is it really worth it? I also am not sold on mac pipes, I have not used there 2 pipe system but there 2into one is terable every right hand turn and the pipe is dragging in the tarmac not much thought went into the layout there.

I noticed on Mikes - that the replica pipes are single wall - as comparted to the double wall stock pipes (header).

How will that affect them?

Are you better off keeping the stock header pipes and cutting off the mufflers and replacing them?

Jim

The double wall helps keep the pipes from bluing.
Stock pipes with a extension piece covered with a guard
and some smaller harley mufflers found on ebay
cause those nuts are putting loud pipes on their new
bikes and dumping good mufflers.
