I bought an '81 XS650 Special, and I need to remove the rear shocks that are on it. The pipes (stock I think) are blocking the lower screw on the shock. There's a connector between the two pipes, under the bike, that keep me from pulling the pipes out a little bit to clear the screw. What's a good way to do this?

Pull off the top mount and raise up the wheel. The nut will magically clear the muffler.
