I wonder is there any other bike tanks that slip straight on to a XS frame

4 months ? You were lucky...I know people here in the UK that waited YEARS , some NEVER (including me ) got their tank made let alone delivered ! Dont waste your time at the Tank Shop ..

Hi Wally, If you want alloy you could try Deus Ex Machina or Vanem in Sydney (google them for web address) they have some tanks that fit sr500/400 and I think the xs. Pricey though.
I think the stock sr tanks would be worth a look. Also some others have used XS750 tanks that look pretty good. There's some threads about them here somewhere.
Bike looks great as it is.

I used the tank from an 73 or 74 honda cb550t My xs tank was crushed when I got it 3 bucks but all you need is the bottom mount and the rubber bumbers that fit on the front posts of the tank.
what I did was grind the cups off the front of the frame of my tx ( this worked on 73 tx) the inside off the front of the honda has the cups. I shaved 1/8 of an inch off each side so it fit snug but not to tight. I used the rubber piece that fits on the post of the stock xs tank and flipped them and mounted them to my gussett of the frame. I flattened out the rear mount and welded it to the underside of the honda tank. had it painted and bam tank. you can see pics under my gallery to see if you like the outcome. the lines worked for me
cheers
