I bought a 1977 XS650D this fall, in pretty good condition, with lots of new parts, including a new MAC exhaust. The MAC 2-2 exhaust looks OK, but is louder than I care for. I also got the original exhaust with the bike. It's in fair shape chrome-wise, and just has a few minor dings. I does have two small holes in the bottom of the left muffler, almost at the end. One is about 3/8" diameter, the other about 1/8" diameter. The metal around these holes seems pretty solid. I'm thinking about cleaning these up and using them, as they will be quieter than the MAC. Anybody know a good method to repair the small holes?

Once on my old FZR 1000, I got a pice of polished ali rolled to go over the entire muffler, left a small gap on the inside and cut out for the bracket. Slid it on and pop rivited it on, I used a bit of Hi Temp silicone in the drill holes before putting in the rivets, looked pretty bloody good!
