I just rebuild my petcock and it's still not getting fuel from the "on" position. I'm having to use reserve and I don't want that. It worked for a little while but it stop working. What is it that's going on? Also, I got this big o ring that came with the kit and I don't know where it goes...could someone tell me?

I have my rebuild kit on order, but I'll take a guess. You put it together wrong! lol. I bet that the rubber bushing you put in there it put in there incorrectly. Did everything you take out look the same as what you put back in?
Also, the large O ring I think you're talking about goes between the petcock and the tank.

I bet so Seattleducatti, but I have no reference point to go by. That rubber piece is in there correctly but I could have it up side down or something. Could you tell me which way it's suppose to go, if you know?

XS400, DOH. Well I won't get my rebuild until Friday at the earliest...I'm leaving for Florida in a couple of hours, but I could take pics as I move thru the process and maybe that will help.
Does the 400 and the 650 use the same petcock? I would guess they'd be very similar...after all, why invent the wheel twice.
