flat racker tank

i'm putting together a flat tracker at the moment, and I was going to use the standard tank, is that a good way to go? or do you guys know of a better option?

It's alot cheaper, i think they look fine with a stock tank. Check out Acormiers7 bike or Irish's, two fine examples right there.

They do look good with the stock tank, but they look better with real flat track tanks. Run the stocker till you can afford one from Omars.

Small tanks look great, filling up every 50-75 miles sucks!

It holds close to 3 gallons, which will get me farther than i care to be on it. What sucked for me is i have one of his earlier tanks that wasn't coated on the inside, Shell gas was the only gas around here that didn't have ethanol in it so i had to keep a 5 gal jug around the house and they went with ethanol mix this year. I coated the tank this week, so hopefully i can burn anything now.

I guess I should know this, but why can't gas with ethanol be run in a uncoated tank?

it can, its actually better than straight gas as it mixes with water rather than it pooling in the bottom of the tank, if you want to coat your tank look for phosphoric acid (concrete ecthing) pour some in swish it around and it will make a rust resistance coat on the steel neutralize it by flushing with water, drain and sun dry and then put in your ethanol gas to soak up the rest of the water

The inside of the tank was basically raw fiberglass, gas with ethanol would eat into the fiberglass making it soft and would eventually get into the fuel system (if left in there). Pure gas wouldn't effect it at all, but you can't but it around here anymore. If ya got a steel tank you shouldn't have a problem.
