I'm trying to collect enough parts for a bobber build. I have an XS650 frame and engine, Honda CB750 front fork and wheel w/disc.

The Honda wheel is a spoke. But today, I found a Yamaha XS400 for sale locally. It had the aluminum mag wheels with discs on front AND rear. It also has the front fork. The bike is REALLY rough, no title and god is it ever rusty. But the wheels and fork look salvageable. So I was going to make the guy an offer if I could use the fork and wheels.

Can anyone help enlighten me? thanx

it seems as you will have to take the swing arm from a 79up 2A2 XS 400 as the earlier XS 400 swing arms are about 50mms shorter.
The XS 400 rear wheel will not fit into the XS 650 swing arm.
I never tried it on my own, but the guys on german XS 650 board were discussing it:

Thanx for the feedback guys. I do appreciate that.

Yes, I found out that the XS400 wheels can work but I would have to machine my own spacers. The XS400 wheels are more narrow and actually smaller. That's probably not all that good of a thing especially considering that the brake would have less stopping power as well.

The entire reason that I was asking too was because I'm seeing XS650 wheels on eBay and they're going for prices that are beginning to actually work against one of the biggest reasons I became interested in these bikes in the first place. Namely, that I could build a cool bobber on a reasonable budget. Darnit. Razz

So basically, anything I want CAN be done but I have to ask myself, is it worth the extra effort and hassle? I don't really think so.
