Hi Guys,
I have a chance to buy a 1972 XS650 in pretty good original condition. I am really interested in building a street tracker. Can it be done with a 1972? Can I get the seat, fenders, etc to fit a 1972?

I see that Omar's parts say they fit 1974 and up.

Thanks,

Deck

You can build a tracker out of almost anything and you dont need Omar's to do it bot be prepared that when you customize nothing is ever a bolt on

Yea, that makes sense. The 1972 I am looking at appears to be in excellent condition. One owner, etc. I think it might be a unit that I freshen up and make as a daily ride. The seat, tank, etc. is in almost perfect condition. I think it just needs a little tlc.

Thanks,

i think your better off keeping it nice and stock you can take any ole $200 beater and street track it because to do a really nice one you have to cut up the frame and youll actually use very few of the stock parts the last couple i did i used the motor and frame and that was it

Dang it. It got away.

I live in Nebraska. It's tough to find a bike out here. I'll keep looking. I think I will put a wanted add in the paper and on craigs list.

iIn Wisconsin they used to be alot easier to get, guys were giving them away, now theve gotten popular but still not too bad our dirt track and ice racing clubs were pretty much built around them, now there are only a few that show up at the races used to be 20 - 30 that would come to the local ice races then tires got really expensive. good luck to you
