Hello Everyone.. just wanted to introduce myself... My name is Adam, from Sidney NY (between Binghamton and Oneonta on I88 for those who know the area) and on Saturday I aquired a 1980 XS-650 Special II for $600.. acctualy got it off an old school teacher who let me borrow it 3 years ago to take my road test.. I also own a 2000 Yamaha YZF-600R but its torn apart right now as I let a buddie borrow it and he was nice enough to wreck it for me.. anywho.. little about myself.. Im 22 going on 12 and am a BIG motorcycle junkie... Im also a guitar junkie... but thats another story Laughing anyway.. there are a few things Id like to do to the bike to make it my own (as I do to every bike I own.. generaly I spend more on extra goodies than I do on the bike itself) and some advice/help on where to locate things and what kind of things I can or cannot get would also be apriciated.. thankyou oh so very much

Adam

oh yeah.. to start off.. I noticed looking through posts someone talking about forward controls.. are these possible to buy or do you have to custom fab them??

Welcome Adam!...I'm a newby on this particular site but I've been around bikes a long time. (Oh yeah...and I play guitar professionally.) I'm sure you'll find a very supportive community here...people with the XStremely good taste to own an XS650 are a "special" elite crowd of fanatics who are more than willing to help others who are also XSive.

They were available years ago. Most are now one off home made ones. I have my set in progress and will probably finish up in the "Off Season"

Thanks for the warm welcomes.. Ive always been a Yamaha guy.. and always loves the XS and RD models (as well as the RZ *drools*) I dont like the specials as much.. but it was a good deal.. I prefer the sportyer models with the indentations for your legs in the gas tank.. like my old XS-750 triple and my XS-1100.. but.. those are long gone.. anyway.. thanks for the info.. guess I should get started on fabing up some forward controls cheers

Adam
