What range would gauges have to be in " HG for Syncing Carbs?

The old standard for dial gauges for this application was 0-50 inches of mercury. Affordable dial gauges tend to be more problematic than manometers, usually due to damping issues. I use the Morgan manometer, with stainless steel rods instead of mercury.

Are you still planning to ride out Sunday? I sent a PM with directions.

Yes at this point I will be out. I don't know that I'll have the 140 jet or carb boots I was referring too. Dial type gauges have too much flutter I assume? Thought I could probably score some dial vacum gauges if I get the right range. I thought 0 - 30" HG would work.

0-30 oughtta be fine, as far as range goes. It's not a question of too much flutter with cheaper dial units, but of controlling flutter so that the gauge is readable but still responding. Don't worry about jets; I have a full range in the stash.

Oops! Just remembered--you have 34mm late-series carbs, and my mains are all small round pattern. Bring your stock pilots. I don't think we'll need those or the smaller mains, but haul 'em along to be sure. One more thing--there's a washer under each pilot fuel screw, and under the washer there's a little O-ring. Those sometimes break down. If your idle responds to the fuel screws yours are probably OK. If not, let me know. Also--did you get the rubber plugs back in place over your pilot jets?
