I have an 81 xs650. Do the rear, upper shock bolts come out? Are are they welded in? I have to replace them for a flat track seat.

Any and all help would appreciated.

You have 2 choices, cut the seat to work with the shock mounts, or grind the mounts off, install the seat, and find where you could weld the new mounts without interfering with your seat. I would choose the first since it is less work, but ultimately it is your choice.

Thanks for replies. The track bikes must be doing some kind of standard practice. What are they doing? Does anyone drill it out?

The problem is this....I have partially cut them off! I assumed that they were removable.
