does anyone know if this will fit our frame?
www.vintagecosmo.com/s...059c09a670
I have an 81 xs650 special. Looks like I have 24" from tank to end of frame ranging from 7"s wide at the tank to 9" wide through the back.
If this wont fit does anyone know of a similar priced section that will fit?

I have a 77 and have been trying to fit a cafe seat to it myself. I am surprised at the number of vendors who offer cafe seats by all sorts of nearlly forgottren vintage bikes but offer no seat specifically for the XS. Most who do offer one for the XS, design the seat where the width of the seat is the same width as the frame rails exposing the frame rails. This also makes you mount the seat higher then needed to clear the frame rails. I would prefer there be a seat that was a little wider and clear the frame rails lowering the mounted height and hiding the frame rails. I am thinking about ordering a seat from Cafeseat who offers a bubble type cafe seat with a secondary pan that can be upholstered and velcroed down to the actual seat pan. I think this is the seat softail doc used on the bike he recently sold on ebay (picture #320353376327). Check out the videos and pictures at this ebay listing for some ideas on the seat mounting. Cafeseat offers 3 different widths of this seat. I believe softail used the medium although again it is the same width as the frame and seat sets high but looks great. That guys builds some beautiful bikes.

For that price, I would give it a shot! Otherwise, I went with a Manx style seat from http://www.clubmanracing.com/ Good part, but I have to make my own mounts. You can see pictures on my build thread:

I am loving the links you guys posted. I actually just ordered this www.roccitycafe.com/cbls.htm I will give a review when i get it all fitted up and take some shots. It seems to not pose any clearence isssues and the price is right. Have a box of lights coming in from Mooneyes also. I hope to have the thing all mocked up in a week.
