Trying to balance the BS34's on my '80 Cafe' Racer. Carbs are rebuilt with new needles/seats, mixture screws (set at 3.25 turns out), floats set, etc, etc. Synched on the bench with a feeler gauge. True dual exhaust (no cross-over pipe).
The right carb is running a tad rich, the left a tad lean. Do I turn the sync screw to the right or left? If I want to lean out the right carb, which way do I turn the screw?

Sync screw won't change the mixture.........clockwise on the sync screw speedes up the right...and counter clockwise reduces the right......left is set by the idol screw.............which speeds or slows both.........

ix screws........in (clockwise) leans them ....out richens them.......

And all you really need is one vacuum guage....with a fish tank air control valve on it in the rubber tube to adjust the vacuum needle ..."""get the right side the same as the left"""""...............

Use dead cylinder method to set mixture screws.

I use a simple "u tube" manometer to sync carbs................very cheap and very accurate. Need 22 feet of 3/16" ID, 5/16" OD clear plastic tubing. You can use any liquid you like. I used Stabil because its red and I had some on hand.

I figured it out...turns out it wasn't the carbs after all. I had a bad spark plug! It's running great now. Just took it for a little spin and will check the plugs when it cools down.

Hey John, I didn't believe you when you said things suck but it appears from your vacuum gauge you are correct. 3" of vacuum with nothing hooked up.

The PO told me he used to take it on dates to weed out the weak ones.....think he got married a short time after the gauge wacked....... Laughing

""""Breaking News""""".......Barney Frank pulls 30".....claiming that there was never anything "fishy" about his relationship with Herb Moses, an executive for the now-government controlled Fannie Mae ....and all stories about this indiscretion is just "poo" anyway....and he also claims that AIG sucks and shouldn't get bone asses.....

It's thumbs up for Barney's attempt at pulling AIG through a fire hose.......and any survivors will recieve bone asses.....rumor has it that Janet Reno will be brought out of the closet to witness the Holocaust.... Laughing

"""More Breaking News"""""""

Bernie Madoff plans to plead insanity at his sentencing after catching his wife reading Lorena Bobbit's new book..............but sources say that his 2 story penthouse may still only have top and bottom bunk beds........

Obama states that his cabinet members may not pay their taxes but "by god you will".......
