I'm getting a kind of rattling noise coming from the clutch area whenever I get going about 20 mph. It gets louder as I go faster and if I push the gear shift lever down slightly (not to where i'm shifting, just till their is no more free play) it goes away. What could this be from?

Sounds like you need to pull the clutch cover off (it's wet in there so drain oil 1st) and check the shift lever, could be something hitting the clutch, ouch! Probably pay to know if you can access a new clutch cover gasket before you start- some you win & some you totaly stuff up!

I dont know if this helps but i've decided that the sound is more of a grinding sound, not a rattling, and I can feel vibration in the clutch lever with my foot... Doesn't seem to be affecting anything else though, bike seems to be shifting very smoothly, just making a worrisome noise

One thing about worrisome noises that don't affect anything else. They always affect something else eventually. You can tell when that happens because it makes a noise that sounds just like KERPOW!
Then the bike stops.

a bent or worn shifting fork will allow the gear engagment dogs on one gear to rub/grind (rattle) on another gear, depressing the lever part way moves the gear over stopping the noise, does it make this noise in all gears or does it only happen in certain gears?

It doesnt seem to matter what gear i'm in, it makes the sound as long as i'm going a certain speed... It makes the sound if i'm coasting in neutral as long as i'm doing 20 mph or faster.. Depressing the shift lever only seems to lessen the sound, not stop it completely....

if it does it in neutral it has to be something on the output shaft, chain and sprockets ok and proper chain adjustment? sprocket nut tight?
