Be sure to immediately chop it up. The early models aren't rare or anything. Everyone here agrees, a stock XS650 is a sad XS650.

The starter is on the bottom, unless someone has removed it.

It's electrical, probably a dead battery at this point. I'd be wary of using a 50 amp jumpbox on that battery...I jump my 1975 with a car but it doesn't have any electronics. I never charge motorcyc ...

Clipons are handlebars(just separate handles, really) that clamp directly to the fork tubes for a lower look on sportbikes/cafes.

It's my understanding the the caliper piston rings are actually responsible for retracting the piston.

Looks good, and pretty similar to my bike. A thicker seat would help with the flow of how the bike looks I think.

I adjust my carbs like so. Crank the bike. Idle the left carb(so both carbs actually, since they're attached) way up. Unplug the right cylinder ...

Success. More or less.

I pulled the stator off, replaced the wires going to it, and grinded clean every terminal related to it left in the wiring harness(this time with my dremel and a small bit.) ...

I had a hard time finding any 19" tires wider than 3.50". I know they exist because I've seen them on antique bikes that have 19" front and rear(probably chinese tires that I'd have to import).

Still screwing with this thing. It misses one time out of ten. Occasional blue sparks at the points.

The carbs are setup right and synched. Cleaned all ignition connections, including the ground ...
