I think that you also may need to think about the fact that not to many dirt bikes weigh as much as an xs650. so you may want to do some research on fork springs also.

If you have a leak there (cylinder base) its probobaly already to late to simply retorque. the ones under the sparkplugs are only for the head to cylinder. the 8 acorns are the only ones that hold the ...

try switching the two wires that come from the points. that is an easy one to get mixed up and results in fireworks

You could find TDC using a dial indicater and with a degree wheel mark the rotor. thats how its usually done , I'm sure you will hear many more interesting ways though.

Alot of times when the idle doesnt come down right away its caused by a lean air fuel mixture and normally corrected with the mixture screws if not by a richer pilot jet and some tuning
