I had seen that and I do like it. What do suppose those wheels are from. Three spokers...off the FZR like a lot of the other parts?

Yeah, they're FZR, the early ones had a 18" rear............Bit of a pain getting tyres for them, a later 17" would be better. Nice bike though, just my opinion, but the tank & seat don't quite do it for me, easy fix though for that!

Thats what I'm guessing ... at least the front one is . I'm not sure about the 18" rear . Mines 17" front and rear .. The only thing I seen on this bike that I'm not crazy about is the wrapped pipes . It definitely puts a new spin on an old bike . Its a combination I would be proud to own

Well, I assume the early 600's had a 18" rear, my '87 FZR 1000 did!
And they look the same.....

I ended up with a 79 xs 650 special , a 2002 FZ1000, an 82 dt80 for the kids , a suzuki gn 250 also for the kids and a Virago 250 for the wife to play around with as a trainer bike

Yeah, I should've got the FZ1 thing off your avatar I guess Rolling Eyes

Sorry, I thought you must have had a 600 from your earlier post.....

I've never ridden a bike made in this century, I'll bet the FZ pisses along Mr. Green

Yeah, my missus is hounding me for a 250 Virago (or similar), she indoors happy with it? I'd rather get her a VTR 250, but she's got this Harley thing in her head........

Yea riding the FZ1 was an adjustment after never being on anything close to as many CCs and having been away from them for probably 20 yrs . I bought it because I like a fast bike but I'm too old to lay down on one . The wife fell in love with the Virago 250 style and I found her one on craigslist for a reasonable price , it was a 95 model but had less than 5000 miles on it . I test rode alot of 250cc bikes & it felt like it had more arse than majority . I'll probably be in the market for another cruiser for her to upgrade this coming year , and as much as she likes her virago the replacement will probably be a larger virago or V- star

That bike looks great except for that seat. Its very nice and well padded and well upholstered but its rather bulky.
Anywar what FE ... looks like a katana 600 to me but well ... not 100% on that. the legs look a little skinnier than kat I think.
Cool.

I guess thats what I liked about it .. Its pretty obvious that its old school and new school combined . At a glance you can tell that the tank and seat are retro, But it looks well executed and well thought out . It just goes to show every individual will like or dislike something about it lol For me it was the wrapped pipes that stood out as the only dislike . I miss the old seats , I practically lived on an old suzuki GT street bike in my youth , and I liked that seat tons better than my FZ seat

Out of the 250cc new rider bikes the V Star 250 (Virago) is supposed to be the best of the cruiser style. Rebel, Bandit , etc. I'm 49 and I have a 2006 EX250 Ninja that has a seating position that an old man with a so so back like myself can ride. I put 1" risers on the bars that sits me pretty close to upright. Possibly your missus would like a Ninja.
I have done 105 mph on mine and the best mpg I have gotten was 75 mpg. Average was about 65 mpg though.

This seat is a bit more like I think it should be like ...

Or this ...

I am hoping to copy that ...

I think he fabbed that seat on the original seat pan ...
Yea dont like wrapped headers either.
Cool.

Back to the thread at hand, I would think with a 750 tank, that bike'd be awesome, it would blend into the seat more. Plus he could keep his orange scribble decal, whatever it is!

Like this bike:

Thanks Pumps, it'll be a cruiser for sure.........Not too new, a 90's Virago I guess!

yamaman-You might throw the Virago XV535 into the mix. I had one , a 90' , that I really liked.

BigD was your old Suzuki a two stroker or something like a GS?

I wonder what it took to get that 1992 Yamaha FZR 600 swing arm in and if the length is different than the xs650/ Anyone know?

Well, yeah I do......I saw the ebay bike as some sort of a cafe, of course - yeah it could be seen as a tracker...
Trackers are a bit of a US phenonomen, no real tracker history here (that I know of) the trackers we have here are fully US inspired....I guess I'm trying to say they have no natural history here, not like cafe's.

Pumps; gotta be a 250cc I'm afraid. Stupid WA laws, you can have a RGV 250 on P plates, but not a XS 400 - 500 - 650 - 750, all with heaps less grunt than a RG!

Just looking at the cafes makes my back ache lol . I'm not a big fan of the riding position that goes along with a cafe racer style bike The low slung bars would never work for me . I looked up the specs on the RG that you mentioned , it looks like its rated about 36hp on the info I could find on it . I wouldn't think it would have more grunt than a 650, But I guess you would have to look at hp to weight ratio and gearing as well . The wifes Virago is rated about 21hp on paper but feels like more than that . Unless your wife is an exception to the rule , its probably not likely that she would use any bike to its full potential while learning to ride anyway . I would sit her on as many different bikes as I could and let her decide what feels most comfortable to her . If shes comfortable she will learn faster and be less likely get discouraged
